Melanotan 2 (MT-II) is a synthetic cyclic peptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) investigated for its interactions with melanocortin receptor subtypes MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R signaling pathways. It has been studied for its observed effects on melanogenesis regulatory mechanisms, pigmentation pathway activity, and hypothalamic dopaminergic signaling dynamics in experimental models. Research has also examined its interactions with MC4R-mediated hypothalamic neuropeptide signaling and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) pathway activity.
