Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derivative of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) developed in Russia in the 1990s, where it has undergone clinical investigation as a pharmacological compound. It has been investigated for its observed effects on BDNF and NGF expression, serotonergic and dopaminergic neurotransmitter pathway modulation, and neuropeptide receptor interactions. Research has also examined its interactions with innate immune signaling pathways, neuroinflammatory marker expression, and cerebrovascular signaling mechanisms.
